Did you have your baby at Basildon Hospital ? MSLC recruitment
Did you have your baby at Basildon Hospital ?
Would you like to improve services at the maternity unit for either next time or for other women ?
Meeting six times a year, the MSLC (Maternity Services Liaison Committee) exists to monitor, advise on and improve maternity services at Basildon Hospital. It is a multi-agency committee with regular attendance from doctors, midwives, health improvement practitioners, NCT representatives etc
But we are missing the most important "voice"...
What the committee is missing is the voice of "users" - a user is someone who has actually used the service, preferably within the last year. So we are looking for women who have given birth at Basildon, and partners or fathers of babies born at the hospital. The committee needs to hear from you about your experiences, and your ideas for improvements.
What's in it for you ?
Well, it is a voluntary role but you do get your travel expenses, parking costs and childcare costs paid (and that includes informal childcare arrangements such as a babysitter - there is no need for it to be "ofsted registered" etc - you can claim a payment which would pay for your mum's petrol for example).
You would be influencing policy and procedures at the maternity unit - which could be hugely important either for your next birth experience, or for women in the future.
If the unit don't hear the voices of users, they have no way of knowing what direction to make improvements - your voice is ESSENTIAL!
Antenatal teachers Val Willcox and Zoe Jarvis attend meetings and would be able to hold hands and explain procedures, jargon etc
