Antenatal (intensive) course

These courses are similar to standard courses although tend to be shorter usually between 12-15 hours. There are likely to be fewer sessions and each session is longer. They generally have 6 to 8 women and their partners or supporters, although in some situations, the groups may be larger. Some courses include women only sessions. Courses are usually in the evening or at weekends but daytime courses are run or can be run.

Our courses all vary slightly because each course is designed around the group of people who are on the course to meet their needs. Most courses run as a set of sessions with the same group attending each session.

All antenatal courses cover preparation for birth and parenthood. Most include a reunion which takes place after all the babies are born. Standard and intensive courses are generally for parents expecting their first babies.

Parents will get to know others in a similar position and attendees often find the people they meet on these courses become an important support in the months and sometimes years after their babies are born.
