This is an NCT antenatal course covering preparation for labour and birth, feeding and early parenthood. The sessions will take place in a public venue in Paulton or Radstock. The course is open to all parents expecting a new baby, and is ideal for those expecting their babies in April or May 2011. Full course dates are as follows:
Our classes are designed for couples, but many people attend on their own or with a friend, relative or birth partner. Subjects covered will usually include: ·
Pregnancy and birth choices·
Choosing where to have your baby·
Body awareness, relaxation, breathing and massage·
Home births and water births·
What happens in labour and how the baby is born·
Pain relief - natural and medical methods·
Your labour and the role of the partner in labour·
What complications might arise – eg Caesarean birth·
Looking after a newborn and feeding your baby·
Early parenting, lifestyle changes

NCT courses are open to all parents and parents-to-be, including young parents, women without a partner, same-sex couples and surrogacy couples. Antenatal course places are for up to two people and women who are not attending with a partner are very welcome to bring someone else along to classes, for example a friend or family member. Additionally, in some areas we offer antenatal courses specifically for women-only and courses for young parents. Some Early Days Groups are also women-only. To find out about local availability of these courses enquire with your booking contact.
Please be aware that demand for NCT courses is high in many areas. If we are oversubscribed we always try to put on extra courses - so do register your interest as early as you can.
