NEW ADDINGTON BREASTFEEDING PEER SUPPORT 12.30pm – 2.30pm Fairchildes Children’s Centre, Fairchildes Avenue CR9 0AA A peer supporter is a mother who has been or is breastfeeding and has received a short training to help local mothers with breastfeeding.    NEW ADDINGTON BREASTFEEDING PEER SUPPORT 1.00pm – 3.00pm Castle Hill Early Years Centre, Dunley Drive CR0 0RJ A lactation consultant or breastfeeding counsellor will also be present.

 

 

Breastfeeding counsellors 

A breastfeeding counsellor is a mother who has breastfed for at least 6 months and received extensive training in helping mothers both face-to-face and on the telephone. Her aim is to listen carefully and then offer appropriate information and suggestions, not advice.  The breastfeeding counselling service is free.

Our Breastfeeding counsellors can provide support and information.  To contact a breastfeeding counsellor call the Breastfeeding Line - 0300 33 00 771, 8am–10pm, seven days a week

 *Lactation consultant
A Lactation Consultant is an independent professional who can advise on all aspects of breastfeeding. There is a charge for private consultations but for help given at the drop-ins there is no charge.

Breast pump hire

Breast pumps can be hired from Croydon volunteers:

Karen Fox* - 020 8657 0384.  Ring to enquire about availability and hire charge. A reduction is available if baby is in the Special Care Baby Unit.

Katie Fisher* - 020 8662 0184.  Local agent for the purchase of Avent Isis pumps, Medela breast pumps and specialist equipment.

These commercial pumps, which are not portable or suitable for travelling, may be hired by phone or over the internet.

Come along to the Addiscombe Baby Café.  Every Monday 10 am to 12 noon. 

At St Mildred’s Centre, Bingham Road, Addiscombe CR0 7EB.

(It is close to Addiscombe tram stop and is served by many bus routes.)

There are other baby cafes you can attend in the surrounding boroughs. Please go to  www.thebabycafe.co.uk  for further information.  The Baby Café is a separate charity.  The Addiscombe Baby Café is supported by NCT Croydon.
