How to set up and sell on Ebay
1) Visit www.Ebay.co.uk
2) Complete the registration form
3) Choose a password
4) You are all set to sell your item!
Get Ready to Sell
Research similar items - Search or browse through similar items and completed listings on eBay to see how other sellers describe similar items and what categories they typically list similar items in.
Take a digital photo of your item - make sure it is clear, and upload extra pictures if necessary.
Calculate postage and packaging costs - Buyers want to know up-front the total cost of what they're buying, and you don't want to end up out of pocket.
Sell, sell, sell! – For the NCT
You're now ready to list your item.
Click the Sell button at the top of any eBay page, and this will take you to the Sell page. Click ‘Sell for Charity’ to enable you to donate your funds to the NCT. You will then be directed to a new page http://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebayforcharity/sell.html where you can click the blue ‘Start Selling Now’ box.
Enter the name of what you are selling in the yellow search box and click "Start Selling". You will now be guided through the listing process. If you haven't sold before, you will be asked to create a Seller's Account.
As you’re filling out the details, look out for the charity box just below where you set your price, you may need to click on the link 'Switch to a form with more choices' at the top right of the page. Select a charity (the NCT!) to support and the percentage (10%-100%) of your final selling price that you'd like to donate (we suggest 100%!). Remember if you donate 100% to the NCT then 100% of your basic selling fees will be credited back to you. Don't forget Gift Aid - simply tick the Gift Aid box when you first list an item for charity.
Complete the Sale
Track your sales in ‘My eBay’, send your buyer an invoice by email (PayPal prepares this for you automatically if you use it), and once you have received payment post and pack your item well, and dispatch within the time you committed.
Email buyers to let them know you have dispatched their item and include tracking or insurance details, if relevant. Follow up on any questions or concerns they have, and don't forget to leave fair and accurate feedback.
A week after your item sells; MissionFish (eBay's charity partner) will automatically collect the donation from you. You can also manage your donations through the 'My Donations' section of My eBay, under the My Account tab. Any fee credits will appear on your next invoice.
Congratulations! You're an eBay Seller.
